ES900 Password Guide Follow

Easily manage the password settings on your ES900 Time Recorder to protect access and ensure security. Once the password is set, you must enter it before changing any settings. All settings must be reset if you forget the password.

In this article:

When you are setting a digit or an option on the display, flashing means that it is ready to be changed. You must press SELECT until you reach the desired digit or option. Then press SET to lock the desired value in place. Printing is always disabled while settings are being changed. Once the final SET has been completed in any given operation, printing is enabled.

 

Set a Password

Create a password to restrict access to the settings on the device. You may choose any 4-digit number from 0001 to 9998. Numbers "0000" and "9999" are not valid passwords.

 

To set the password on the ES900:

  1. Unlock the unit and remove the cover. Refer to our Getting Started article for how to Open the Unit.

  2. Press SELECT until the arrow A down arrow icon. is above PASSWORD. The first two digits will begin to flash.

  3. Press CHANGE until the first two digits match the first two digits of your password. 

  4. Press SET. The last two digits will begin to flash.

  5. Press CHANGE until the last two digits match the last two digits of your password. 
  6. Press SET until the unit returns to normal operation mode.
  7. Replace the cover and lock the unit. Refer to our Getting Started article for how to Close the Unit.

 

Enter the Password

After creating a password, you will need to enter the password in order to access any settings on the time recorder. 

 

To enter the password on the ES900:

  1. Press SELECT. 

  2. The numbers 9999 will display and the first two digits will flash.

  3. Press CHANGE until the first two digits match your password. 

  4. Press SET. The Flashing will change to the last two digits.

  5. Press CHANGE until the last two digits match your password. 
  6. Press SET twice.

 

Cancel the Password

If you see 99 99 on the ES900 display when accessing programming mode, it means a password is set on the device. To remove the password, the steps depend on whether you know the current password. This article walks you through both options and explains why a password may appear unexpectedly.

 

To remove a known password:

  1. Enter the current password to access settings
  2. Press SELECT until the ▼ icon is above PASSWORD.
  3. Set the password to 0000.
  4. Press SET, then press SET again to return to normal operation.

 

To remove an unknown password:

When 99 99 appears on the display:

  1. Press and hold CHANGE and SET at the same time.
  2. Hold for approximately 10 seconds.

At this point you can update the password.

 

Why the ES900 Shows a Password When None Was Set

The ES900 may display a password prompt even if you did not intentionally create one. This can happen when a setting change is not fully completed, such as adjusting the time and saving the hour without properly setting the minutes.
