A Guide to Programming the ES900 Time Recorder Follow
Setting up your Acroprint ES900 time recorder is quick and straightforward. Some items, such as the time and date, are preset at the factory. You can check out our factory settings here. This guide will walk you through how to quickly adjust multiple settings in one session, ensuring your device meets your full satisfaction. You can click the links throughout the article for additional information.
1. Open the Unit
Prior to adjusting settings, you will need to remove the cover on the device. Insert the key into the lock on the cover of the unit. Turn the key to the clockwise position to unlock the unit. Pull upwards to remove. Check out our Getting Started article for more information.
A key is necessary to access the settings. If you do not have a key, you can order one here.
2. Get Familiar with the Control Buttons

Press SELECT to choose the desired program setting mode. The selected program setting is indicated by the upward arrow on the display. |
CHANGE | Press CHANGE to cycle through the options. |
SET | Press SET to set the option. Press the SET button again to return the device to the normal operation mode. |
3. Set the Time Zone
Set the Time Zone before setting the Time.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to TIME ZONE. If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the time.
- Press CHANGE to select your time zone.
- 00: Greenwich
- -04: Atlantic Standard Time
- ES-05: Eastern Standard Time (EST)
- CS-06: Central Standard Time (CST)
- -07: Mountain Standard Time (MST)
- PS-08: Pacific Standard Time (PST)
- AS-09: Alaska Standard Time
- HS-10: Hawaiian Standard Time
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the time.
4. Set the Time (Hour and Minutes)
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to TIME. The HOUR will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the date.
- Press CHANGE to change the hour.
- Press SET to confirm. The minutes will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to change the minute. Hold the change button down to increase quickly.
- Press SET to confirm. The SECONDS will start to count up.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the year, month, and day.
5. Set the Date (Year, Month, and Day)
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to DATE. The YEAR will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the hour format.
- Press CHANGE to change the year.
- Press SET to confirm. The MONTH will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to change the month. Hold the change button down to increase quickly.
- Press SET to confirm. The DATE will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to change the date. Hold the change button down to increase quickly.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the hour format (12 hour or 24 hour).
- How the date appears, or whether it appears at all, depends on the Print Order.
- The date will be displayed according to the language of your choice, updated with the Language setting.
- The Print Pattern setting lets you choose between a 2-digit ('25) or 4-digit (2025) year format.

6. Select 12 Hour or 24 Hour Format
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to HOUR. The screen will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print order.
- Press CHANGE to select the time format:
- 1: 12 Hour (PM 3:00)
- 2: 24 Hour (15:00)
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print order.
7. Set the Print Order
Setting the print order for your device allows you to customize how the date and time information is printed. We have 29 preset options and custom comments.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to PRINT ORDER. The screen will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print pattern.
- Press CHANGE to select your preferred print order from our list of available options. You can view those options by following this link.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Print Pattern.
- The print order will also reflect the language of your choice. You can follow the steps in our Language article to adjust the printed language to one of our six available language options.
8. Set the Print Pattern
The Print Pattern setting allows you to set:
- the number of digits in the printed year,
- the way the minutes are displayed,
- leading zeros.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to PRINT PATTERN. The first number (the year digit option) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select the year format:
- 1: 2 digits ('24)
- 2: 4 digits (2024)
- Press SET to confirm. The second number (the minute format option) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select the minute format:
- 1: Standard (10:10)
- 2: 1/100th (10.17)
- 3: 1/20th (10.15)
- 4: 1/10th (10.1)
- Press SET to confirm. The third number (the leading zero option) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to enable or disable leading zeros:
- 1: Disabled
- 2: Enabled
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Comments.
9. Configure Comments
The ES900 has 13 preset comment options. Prior to setting the Preset Comments, refer to the Print Order to ensure you have set the print order options to allow the preset options to print comments (C = Comments). To set Customized Comments please see our article on comments.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to COMMENT. The screen will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print pattern.
- Press CHANGE to select your preferred comment from our list of available comment options. You can view those options by following this link.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Language.
10. Adjust the Language
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to LANGUAGE. If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print method.
- Press CHANGE to select your language.
- 1: English
- 2: Spanish
- 3: German
- 4: French
- 5: Italian
- 6: Portuguese
- 7: Numeric
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print method.
11. Set the Print Method
The Print Pattern setting allows you to set:
- Print Length (1-6)
- Print Direction (Right or Left Margin)
- Print Activation Method (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Manual, or Combination)
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to PRINT METHOD. The first number (the print length option) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select the print length. You can select 1 through 6.
- 1 = smallest
- 6 = largest
- 4 = default
- Press SET to confirm. The second number (the print direction) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select the print direction:
- 1: right-hand margins
- 2: left-hand margins
- Press SET to confirm. The third number (the print activation option) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to set how printing is triggered:
- 1: Automatic: Prints when the sensor is covered.
- 2: Semi-Automatic: Prints when the sensor is covered and you press the push bar. The sensor must be covered.
- 3: Manual: Prints when the push bar is pressed, regardless if the sensor is covered.
- 4: Combination: Prints by either pressing the push bar or covering the sensor.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting Daylight Savings Time.
12. Program Daylight Savings Time (DST)
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to DST. The screen will begin flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the print pattern.
- Press CHANGE to select your preferred comment from our list of available comment options.
- 1: Automatic - DST is automatically set from the atomic clock signal. This setting only work with a functioning atomic model. If you observe DST, we recommend selecting option 3 (manual) and setting DST manually.
- 2: Off - The clock does not adjust for DST
- 3: Manual - Set the DST start and end dates yourself. Follow this link for step on how to manually set DST.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Numbering.
13. Configure Numbering
(Number of Digits, Repeating Numbers, and Reset)
The Number setting allows you to set:
- the number of digits in the number,
- how many times a number repeats,
- and how or if the number resets.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to NUMBER. The first number (the Number Digit) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select the Number of Digits. The Number of digits can be set from 1 to 8 digits.
- Press SET to confirm. The second number (the Repeat Times) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select how many times a number can repeat. The Repeat Times can be set from 0 to 9 times. If it is set to repeat 0 times, the number will never advance.
- Press SET to confirm. The third number (the Reset Options) will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE to select how the number will reset
- 1: Disabled
- 2: Return to the Initial Number (set in the next section) at midnight.
- 3: Return to 0 at midnight.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Initial Number.
The Initial Number setting is connected to the Numbering Print settings.
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to INITIAL NUMBER. The screen will begin flashing.
- Press CHANGE until the 1st digit matches the first digit of your initial number.
- Press SET to set the number. If you have additional digits, the next digit will appear.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all digits are entered.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SELECT to move on to setting the Password.
14. Set the Password
Set password, enter password, and forget password
- Press SELECT until the arrow points to PASSWORD. The first two digits will begin to flash.
- Press CHANGE until the first two digits match the first two digits of your password.
- Press SET. The last two digits will begin to flash.
- Press CHANGE until the last two digits match the last two digits of your password.
- Press SET to confirm. The screen should stop flashing.
- If the setting is correct, press SET until the device returns to the normal operation mode.
15. Close the Unit
After adjusting settings, you will need to replace the cover on the device. Replace the cover, then turn the key to the counter-clockwise position to lock the unit. Check out our Getting Started article for more information.
