E-40 Error on the ES700 Time Recorder

The E-40 Error on the ES700 indicates an incorrect password. If you are unable to locate the correct password, the following steps will reset the password without a full reset.

To clear the password on the ES700:

1. Press SELECT. If a password is set, the screen will read "9999".
2. When 9999 is blinking, hold the CHANGE and SET buttons down simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds. 
3. The password should now be cleared and set up can continue.
