How can I move the ProPunch software to a new server or workstation? Follow
Moving the ProPunch server to a different computer can be a daunting task, but with these steps, it can be done seamlessly.
Notes:
- You will need administrator access to complete this process.
- Prior to migrating your server, be sure to write down the ProPunch Software and installation key.
To move your ProPunch server to a new computer, follow these steps:
- Make sure the ProPunch version on the old computer is up to date by clicking on "Search for Updates" on the dashboard and following the prompts.
- After the update is completed, create a database backup by clicking "Backup Now" on the dashboard. The backup file will be saved in the location specified in the Backup Location field.
- Click on Display Backups and retrieve a copy of the database. Place it in a safe location.
- Launch the ProPunch interface on the old computer by clicking "Open Pro Punch" on the dashboard and log in as an administrator.
- Go to "Help" >> "About ProPunch" and click "Deactivate" to deactivate ProPunch on the old computer, while noting the Install Key.
- Install ProPunch on the new computer, and after the installation is completed, restart the system. ProPunch Software v2.126.32
- Open the ProPunch Dashboard after the restart, click "Search for Updates," and follow any prompts to update.
- After the update, click "Open ProPunch" and complete the Activation Wizard to activate ProPunch on the new computer.
- After activation, log out and go to the ProPunch Dashboard, click "Restore From Backup," and select the backup copied from the old computer. Follow the prompts to complete the restore.
- Open the ProPunch Software on the new computer and write down the new Server IP Address in the address bar.
- Go to the Time Clock on the wall and press "Menu" >> "Set Com" >> "Server Settings" >> "Server IP," and enter the IP of the new server. Press "OK" after entering each set of numbers.
- Press "ESC" and then "OK" to save your changes.
- Go back to the software and check the clock status by going to "Company Setup" >> "Time Clocks."
- Click "Time Clock Functions" >> "Resend Employees."
- Perform a test punch to verify that the clock is communicating with the software.
